It appears that the negro arrived on the Stockton boat, on Tuesday night, and engaged Sinbad&#8217;s hack to convey him to a friend&#8217;s house on Washington street. When they reached the house, the negro asked how much he was to pay. The hackman replied $10. The negro made no demonstration against the horrible extortion, but handed the driver a $20 piece, which the latter very coolly pocketed, and mounting his carriage, drove off at full speed.
