\t\t\t\tSan Francisco, Feb. 8.\u2014 lt was stated
\nto-day that Richard Hyer, wanted in
\nNew Jersey for embezzlement, and who
\nescaped from Detective Dalton’s custody
\nwhile en route East some days ago,
\nvisited the County Jail in Oakland Fri-
\nday last, and paid his respects to a num-
\nber of acquaintances there. The police
\nofficials did not molest him not know-
\ning but that it was proper for him to be
\nat large. It is believed Hyer has left
\nhere on some vessel bound to Australia.<\/p>\n
