NEW YORK. Dec. 31.\u2014 The Greek
\nsteamer Thessaloniki, which has been
\nin distress for more than a week, is
\nstill far from this port with her 300
\npassengers. Distress calls signed by the
\nchief officer, contradicting “all’s well”
\ndispatches from the captain, and hazy
\nstatements\u00a0 of her position, have made
\nthe Thessaloniki a ship of mystery.<\/p>\n
The coast guard Seneca has searched
\nfor the Greek liner two days in vain.
\nNow the Florizel of the Red Cross line,
\non her way from Halifax to Cuba, is
\nnearing the disabled ship trying to find
\nher, having picked up a wireless mes-
\nsage that the Thessaloniki was drifting
\nhelplessly.<\/p>\n
At the office of the local agents of
\nthe line, Gallanos and Company, little
\nconcern was exhibited today over the
\nvessel. It was\u00a0 said that the line ex-
\npected the Thessaloniki to arrive safely
\nin time.<\/p>\n

\nThessaloniki, which has been drifting about for
\nten days with her engine room flooded and 300
\npassengers aboard, was relieved yesterday by
\na wireless message received at the Brooklyn
\nNavy Yard at 1 P.M., saying that she was to
\nbe towed into port by the steamer Patris.
