\nsertion before the 62nd annual
\nmeeting of the California Press As-
\nsociation.
\nHe said rising costs in the news-
\npaper business were a challenge to
\npublishers.
\n“Who will bear the burden \u2014the
\nadvertiser or the reader?\u201d
\nMore than 100 publishers also

\nton, publisher of the San Mateo
\nTimes; Edward M.H. Ainsworth, of
\nthe Los Angeles Times; Worthy
