\nboards and books in your living
\nroom. Via television.
\nThat’s the aim of American edu-
\ncators if the government will pro-
\nvide them space on the airways.
\nThey have asked the Federal Com-
\nmunications Commission to set
\naside some television frequencies for
\ntheir exclusive use.
\nThe commission is now holding
\nhearings. The educators have pre-
\nsented witnesses in an effort to
\nshow that television is ideal for ed-
\nucational programs, that the public
\nwants them, and that the nation’s
\nschools can provide them.
\nTo press their case, educational
\ngroups have combined into the joint
\ncommittee on educational television.
\nIt is headed by Dr. I. Keith Tyler,
\ndirector of radio education for Ohio
\nState University.<\/p>\n
