From the Feb. 7, 2021 New York Times: A most interesting essay showing how things have not changed in ~100 years, the rhetoric of hate is still embedded in the christian right.<\/p>\n \nI thought I\u2019d start with a blunt question. Are connections between white Christianity and extremism new?<\/strong><\/p>\n No. White Christianity and this white supremacist Trump extremism are definitely not a new combination. I\u2019d push back a little bit about the language of extremism to say that some of this stuff has been remarkably mainstream in American history.
