\t\t\t\tFalse Alarm. \u2014 Several cracks resembling the
\nexplosions of a pistol were heard to occur on Second
\nstreet, between I and J, on Wednesday night, which
\nstarted a number of people, and sent them inquiring-
\nly into the street. The cause of the explosions could
\nnot be ascertained, although facts were sufficiently
\napparent to show that no one had been shot \u2014 much
\nto the disappointment of a few, who had expected to
\nsee some one of the shooters shot. It is high time
\nfor a repetition of this innocent amusement. A
\nwhole week has elapsed without any thing of the
\nkind occuring.<\/p>\n
