John Murphy got drunk, got on a fast horse, rode
\nthrough the streets, fell off his horse, and was fined $10.<\/p>\n
James Gouty drank a great deal too much rum for his
\nown comfort, and laid down to sleep beneath the shadow
\nof the jail, from which he was aroused by an officer. He
\nwas discharged, it being shown that he was usually a
\nhardworking man, and was not in the habit of getting
\ndrunk.<\/p>\n
Augustus Ennis, a colored gentleman, was charged
\nwith drawing a pistol in a gambling house on Kearny
\nstreet, after having lost his money. Decision reserved.<\/p>\n
John Palmer got drunk and drew a knife on the com-
\nmunity in general, for which he was fined $25<\/p>\n
James Ryan got into a fight on Long Wharf, and was
\nfined $25.<\/p>\n
J. Melvil was charged by James Ryan with attempting
\nto strike him with an axe for which he was fined $25.<\/p>\n
William Forward was charged by his wife with an as-
\nsault and battery upon her and putting her out of doors
\nin the night. This is an old trick of Mr. Forward’s and
\nhe has been up several times charged with the same of-
\nfence for which he was fined $50.<\/p>\n
