COURTED TO THE WHIR OF SAW MILL WHEELS.<\/p>\n

W. H. Joy and Mrs. Weiberts of Healdsburg were married
\nin Santa Rosa Thursday. The wedding is the outcome of
\na long acquaintanceship extending over several years,
\nboth parties spent in the Mill creek redwoods near
\nHealdsburg.
\nYears ago Joy was a sawmill owner at Healdsburg. At
\nthat time he was well to do and had a wife and two
\ndaughters. Joy was a hardworking, sober-minded man
\nwhile the feminine portion of the house had a leaning
\ntowards social pleasures. As the years went on Joy and
\nhis wife drifted farther and farther apart for no
\nother reason than that their likes and dislikes were
\nso widely different.
\nMrs. Joy was quite a vocalist and one daughter, Effie
\nBeresford Joy, achieved fame as a singer which spread
\nover America, across the Atlantic, to Paris and Berlin.
\nMiss Effie Beresford Joy is living in Chicago, earning
\nan independent income as an oratorio and concert singer.
\nMrs. Joy and her two daughters, Nellie and Edith, are
\nliving in Los Angeles. The two daughters hold very prominent
\npositions in the Los Angeles schools.
\nMrs. Weiberts, the bride, and Joy, the groom, worked
\nin the redwoods for several years. After Joy broke up
\nhe became foreman for a Healdsburg sawmill owner and Mrs.
\nWeiberts was cook for the sawmill crew. They will probably
\nlive on Joy’s little mountain ranch, away back on Mill creek,
\none of the most beautiful spots in the entire state. <\/p>\n
