An Ordinance.<\/p>\n
Whereas the local name of Yerba Buena as applied to
\nthe settlement or town of San Francisco—is unknown
\nbeyond the immediate district; and has been applied from
\nthe local name of the Cove on which the town is built.—
\nTherefore, to prevent confusion and mistakes in public
\ndocuments, and that the town may have the advantage
\nof the name given on the published maps.
\nIt is hereby ordered that the name of San Francisco,
\nshall hereafter be used in all official communications, and
\npublic documents, or records appertaining to the town.

Condiderando que el nombre de “Yerba Buena” con
\naplicado al Pueblo de San Francisco es desecoaocido afo-
\nera del distrite inmediate; y estala aplicado del nombre
\nde la playa en que el pueblo esta situado.
\nPor este, a prevenir equivocos en los docutnmentos publi-
\ncos, y que el publico gozare la venlaja del nombre public-
\ncado ya en los planos y mapas; Juzgo neccesario a deere-
\ntar, que en adelante el nombre de San Francisco, meta
\nescrito en todos communicaciones, documentos, y regis-.
\ntros publicos; que pertenecen al pueblo de San Fran-
\ncisco.

AN ORDINANCE
\nWhereas the parctice [sic.] of firing guns and pistols in the
\ntown of San Francisco and vicinity, already prohibited in
\nthe general order of the late Com’dt of the district, is
\nnot observed and in consequence persons have been in-
\njuried and others endangered, while pursuing their neces-
\nsary occupations.—
\nIt is therefore ordered that from and after the publica-
\ntion of this ordinance, any person or persons who shall
\ndischarge any fire arms within one mile of the Public
\nsquare, shall be found on conviction therefore, the sum of
\ntwenty dollars for each and every offence—one half of
\nwhich shall be paid to the person proving the same.
\nAs the police of the town is under the supervision of the
\nCom’dt of the Garrison, any person wishing to discharge
\ntheir arms, will apply to him for permission so to do.
